Reminder: Elijah Moore is Going to Destroy the NFL

He has been off to a slow start so far in his rookie season. Part of this is due to nagging injuries and part of it is due to the Jets incompetent offense. Regardless, Elijah Moore is a special talent and the cream will eventually rise to the top with him.

It may not be this week, or even this season, but Elijah Moore is a player that I'm emphatically targeting in dynasty and on waiver wires in some seasonal leagues. He is just too good of a prospect and he has a rare work ethic and determination that does not come around often. He WILL succeed. Get him while you can.

Here is a reminder of Elijah Moore, the NFL prospect.

Elijah Moore, College Phenom

Elijah Moore joined Ole Miss in 2018, where as an 18 year old freshman he commanded 50 (!) targets in an offense that also had AJ Brown, DK Metcalf, and Dawson Knox. Then in 2019, Moore broke out as a sophomore to the tune of 67 catches (on 117 targets), 850 yards, and 6 TDs. He saved his best performance for last though, when in 2020 as a 20 year old Junior he went ballistic for 86 catches (on 101 targets), 1,193 yards, and 8 TDs... in only 8 games!

Per Pro Football Focus, he was the 3rd highest graded WR and averaged a face melting 3.85 yards per route run. He also showed off his ridiculous hands with the lowest drop percentage out of any WR with more than 90 targets and his blazing speed with the 2nd longest TD reception in all of college football last season (91 yards). You can find that clip here.

Elijah Moore, Athletic Marvel

Watching Elijah Moore in college, you could tell he was an incredible athlete. Then at his pro day last year he proved it wasn't just game speed (which he has in spades). Moore confirmed his long speed with a 4.35 second 40-yard dash and showcased his exceptional agility with 6.65 three-cone drill. Combining his pro-day numbers with his on-field college performance, Moore began to draw comps to Tyler Lockett across the industry.

Elijah Moore, NFL Draft Pick

Moore was taken pick #34 overall in the 2020 NFL draft by the New York Jets who later claimed they had him as their 16th overall prospect in this year's class. This pick came one round after taking their franchise QB in Zach Wilson at pick #2 overall, showcasing the Jet's expectation that this duo can crush together for a very long time.

Elijah Moore, Professional

The buzz on Moore all throughout training camp has driven Moore's stock through the roof. From every coach, to every player, to every to beat reporter - there hasn't been one negative thing said about Moore. The best part is that, in addition to his talent and ability, much of the praise has been around his character and work ethic.

In this article from ESPN, there were a few quotes from people around Elijah that really highlight how special his mindset is.

Jets coach Robert Saleh said that Moore's "work ethic is off the charts" and "His mindset is off the charts."

“I was telling someone this morning he’s an old soul,” Saleh said of Moore. “He’s already ahead of the game in regards to how he studies, takes care of his body, the way he approaches practice, the way he approaches each rep. He’s impressive in the sense that we feel very confident that he’s going to find ways to get better. This game is very important to him and he shows it with his actions every day.”

"He's not playing for a participation trophy," Tevin Allen, a former Illinois State defensive back and CEO of Gold Feet Global. "He's going to do whatever it takes to get that No. 1 spot."

Elijah Moore, Man on a Mission

As Elijah Moore never stops working his butt off to become a special player in the NFL, he never forgets adversity. He wants to be the best player in the NFL.

Per PFF via Connor Hughes of The Athletic, Moore wrote on his bathroom mirror the names of the 5 players taken before him in the NFL draft - JaMarr Chase, Jaylen Waddle, Devonta Smith, Kadarius Toney, and Rashod Bateman - and he says them out loud to himself twice a day.

“I’m going to show them why I should have gone first,” Elijah said. And I believe him.

If you're like me and can't get enough Elijah Moore content, I'd also like to give a quick shout out to my buddy Christian Welsh (@EvilEmpireFF) over at the FF Authority, who put together one of the best video overviews on Elijah Moore that you will find anywhere. Drop the Narrative and Buy the Dip on Diontae Johnson

Dynasty managers might be under-appreciating his talent and situation-agnostic production, fearful that his situation might never improve, or both. Now is the time to drop these narratives, take advantage of any managers who are showing weakness right now in dynasty, and buy the dip on an ascending talent with elite potential and upside.
