AP, via ESPN.com:

The Rockies placed their star first baseman on the 15-day disabled list Saturday because of a stomach ailment. The move was made retroactive to April 20. The five-time All-Star was hospitalized with stomach discomfort and a fever on Friday and will remain there until testing and diagnosis are complete, the team said.

Todd Helton is hitting so far in July. How you like dem apples? He finally appears to have everything turned around. Even the 5 July home runs are looking pretty nice. Unfortunately, this surge has barely imp[acted the rest of his production, as he has only 12 rbi and 12 runs so far on the month.

No sooner did Helton appear red hot than he turned colder than ever. Helton is riding a three week slump and is 3 for his last 49. Ouch. His numbers are at an alltime low for the end of May.

And yet there has been no explanation for this other than simply: he is slumping.

Say the words "steroids", "no protection", or "hiding an injury" to his owner and see what happens.

Todd Helton appears to be waking up offensively with two home runs in the past 6 games. He also has an uncharacteristic 7 strikeouts over that stretch.
