In 95 innings pitched so far, Peavy has 107 Ks, a 2.56 ERA, and a WHIP of .91 and 6 Wins. Whilst accumulating those stat’s, he fought off a dead arm period and an upper respiratory infection(for 3 starts). If he hadn’t had shoddy relief pitching and erroneous field playing behind him, he’d have a good 4 or 5 more wins under his belt. AND on top of that, the kid’s only just turned 24(DOB: May 31, 1981)!

Now, the team is "cautiosly optimistic" he'll be ready to go when the season starts.

From espn.com:
Quote:
The Padres got the good news it was hoping for on Jake Peavy.

The club's star pitcher doesn't think he's in danger of missing his first regular-season start after reporting improvement Saturday in his strained left groin.

"April 7 is in the picture, for sure," Peavy said, referring to the Padres home opener against Pittsburgh.

Hurt his groin, will sit for a couple weeks.

From AP:
Quote:
San Diego Padres ace Jake Peavy strained his groin during Friday's game against the Texas Rangers and could be out for two weeks.
The Padres will know more after Peavy is re-evaluated on Saturday. He'll definitely miss his next start, trainer Todd Hutcheson said.
"He won't pitch in five days," Hutcheson said.
