ADDS & DROPS

Written by Xach on June 27, 2006

My thought with regard t presenting adds and drops is that roto voyeurism can be quite informative if served up in small, digestible packages. Your average Rotogod spends several hours of each day playing roto and our leagues are fairly deep. My guess is therefore that we are well ahead of the curve for most casual roto players. A look at our recent adds and drops might therefore present a decent tip for people now and again . . .

ADDS
The following players recently found new Rotogod homes:

Wily Mo Pena, of, bos
With Wily headed to AAA for rehab after bone surgery, this looks like a speculative add to me; by a Sox fan no less. He's still a few weeks away.

Kiko Calero, rp, oak
Beyond Huston Street insurance, his value is nil in our league. He hasn't given up a run in June though, so his value for RP-heavy leagues is obvious.

Howie Kendrick, 2b, laa
At last report (June 21) Rotoworld.com had this guy hitting .396 at AAA Salt Lake. Speculative add, as there has been some talk of recalling him lately.

César Izturis, ss, lad
Red hot .400 average in minscule 7-game 2006 sample. Meh.

Jason Jennings, sp, col
Mediocre pitcher throws two shutouts and heads for slumping Anaheim. This was a nice grab two days ago, but you may have missed the streak.

Mike Lamb, 1b, 3b, of, hou
Sometimes-useful utility player moves to top of the Houston lineup. According to KFFL.com he has hit .378 as the no. 2 hitter this season.

Dave Bush, sp, mil
A quick look inside the numbers reveals one or two poor starts dragging down otherwise nice stats.

Anthony Reyes, sp, stl
I missed the boat on this guy. With Mulder out, Reyes is in. So far, so good.

DROPS
The following players were recently kicked to the curb:

Jose Guillen, of, was
0-20 skid. Fuck the elevator, he'll take the window.

Juan Rivera, of, laa

Juan Uribe, ss, cws
Not sure why he was on a roster in the first place

Zach Duke, sp, pit
Last year's gold; this year's garbage :(

Mike Napoli, c, laa
Actually makes a decent add if you need catcher help

Marcus Giles. 2b, atl
Disgruntled owner cuts bait on Atlanta's under-achieving pussy

Oliver Perez, sp, pit
Bwaaaaaaaaahahahaha

Horatio Ramirez, sp, atl
New year, same results

Comments

The Jennings pick up was definitely a play on the humidor and the generally less horrendous park factor for Coors field this year than in its previous history.

The nice streak he's on got him on my radar, but he's always had actual talent unlike some of the guys the Rockies used to trot out there.

The only real note there is that Coors field isn't quite the pitching slaughterhouse it used to be.
