The Morning Offering - April 15, 2005
Written by Dr Furious on April 15, 2005
So the word on the street these days is that the hate-filled Furious offerings are a whole lot better than their hate-free counterparts. I am not sure if this can be statistically proven, but it is definitely what I’ve heard. I know it’s hate-free Friday and all, but please allow me a line or two to hate on that. To mix it up a little, Furious is going to tackle this in the third person.
Furious is well aware that Furious is the guy that hates. Furious came out the womb hating and Furious is aware that he does it well. However, people must change, adapt, dilate if you will, and Furious is no different. Occasionally it is necessary to change your style, switch things up every once and a while. So do not hate on the hate-free Fridays. They represent change, adaptation, and an attempt to grow.
After reading all of that, your coffee should be ready to drink and you should be ready to tackle the commute. So without further ado …
Baseball
There are a lot of strange things going on in baseball. Toronto is leading the A.L. East. The Dodgers have the highest winning percentage in the M.L.B. The Nationals are leading their division. Let me repeat, the Nationals are leading their division. I know it is very early, but still. Check out the power rankings on ESPN to confirm what I am talking about. You know it is a strange start this season when the Brewers are in the top ten in the power rankings.
Basketball
As the playoffs approach, basketball gets intense. I was watching the Miami/Sixers game last night, and I realized that Dwayne Wade is dumb good. The guy is so fast, explosive, athletic, and such a good finisher and passer. I would never, ever, in my entire life, want to guard this guy and I love playing defense.
Golf
Tiger is amazing. I think Tiger is going to have a huge year. The adjustments he made to his shot are finally paying dividends.
More Golf
After Mickelson’s win at the Master’s last year, I am actually beginning to like this guy. I always thought he was a choke artist because he could never win a major. As I gained more perspective, I discovered that his lack of winning was due to his aggressive play. Now that the monkey is off his back, it has translated to his play. Mickelson is more relaxed on the course than he has ever been. He is playing some great golf, but still in the same aggressive manner. It is amazing what a major championship can do for a player.
Even More Golf
I think I am becoming a golf fan. God help us all.
NASCAR
There needs to be more beef in NASCAR. Jeff Gordon knocked defending Cup champ Kurt Busch into the wall, in route to a victory at the Advanced Auto Parts 500 on Sunday. Kurt Busch, not pleased about the exchange, gave Gordon’s car a rub with 11 laps remaining to show his displeasure. Next time Kurt should slug Gordon if he wins under similar circumstances. The more beef there is, the higher the probability of Furious possibly checking out a race.
MLS
Landon Donovan, from the ‘Quakes of San Jose, is Nas – T. That is all I have to say about that.
Well folks, I think Furious is going to wrap it up there. I hope everyone has a great Friday. Furious will be heading to a barbeque later on today. I cannot think of a better way to spend an afternoon. It does not get any better than consuming mass amounts of wine, beer, and a whole lot of meat. Mmmmm, meat! Make it your duty to do something fun this evening, because … it’s Friday and Furious said so.

golf rules, MLS not so much
