The Morning Offering - Feb. 11, 2005

Written by Dr Furious on February 11, 2005

Ladies, gentlemen and children of all ages, I would like to introduce you to the Furious offering. Thank God it’s Friday! If you happen to be in the Boston area, the first round of happy hour is on me. I could hit you off with some hate this morning, but Fridays are hate-free in Furious’ world. I have to finish writing a 40 page thesis, but that will not stop me from having a couple of shots of Petron after work today. It is always a good idea to loosen up before you write, and I’m drinking Kahlua with my coffee. So let’s get on with it shall we.

Pedro
I’ll be the first to admit that I was a little skeptical of Pedro signing with the Mets. Living in Boston, I have seen Pedro pitch many times. Toward the end of his run here in Beantown, Pedro looked a lot less dominant and was becoming more and more of distraction. I was very pleased to read that the Dominican dominator has already reported to spring training. Are you kidding? Pedro is in camp 12 days early? Am I dreaming? Nope all reports are true, and I couldn’t be more elated. The early report to camp and the change to the National League are all indicators Petey could have a good fantasy year (barring injury of course). So if Pedro is available in your baseball draft, you might want to move him up on your depth chart.

More Met Banter
The Mets’ lineup has been overhauled and it does not look too shabby. The addition of Beltran is huge, but Mientkiewicz is also a solid option at first with gold glove credentials to boot. Let’s be honest, they are the Mets and will, therefore, suck. If the Mets happen to be good, they still have to contend with a team from Atlanta that just wins the division every year. The Mets do have projected lineup of Matsui, Reyes, Piazza, Beltran, and Cameron, one through five, which isn’t that bad. The rest of the lineup shakes down like this: Floyd, Meintkiewicz, Wright, and the pitcher slot. That is a fairly decent lineup folks, and it has the potential to be good. The Doctor is guardedly optimistic about the Mets’ this season, and I’m sure they will disappoint as usual.

Congrats
I have to give a shout out to the New England Patriots. They just proved that they are truly a dominant team, by winning their third championship if four years. Is Peyton Manning jealous of Tom Brady yet? If he’s not, he should be.

I’m keeping the offering short and sweet this morning. So, once again, a TGIF goes out to the 5 people reading the offering. Anyone in the Boston area who wants to grab a couple drinks after work should holla at a brother. I recommend Harry’s Bar and Grill on Commonwealth (Comm) Ave in Brighton. Harry’s has good food at great prices, and possibly the best French fries in the greater Boston area. That’s where you’ll find Furious on Friday after work, having a couple shots of Tequila. Feel free to join me, and, as I stated previously, first round is on me.

Yeah man, Harry's is always a good time. Of course the two hours of sleep I got last night might prevent me from drinking today.

(wonders how long it would take to drive from New Jersey to Harry's for happy hour)

Did Harry's sponsor this noffering?

G, I'd join you, but we're in the midst of Rotogod weekend in D.C. ... we could use someone down here to break the ice with girls for Ape and Junky though.

Harry's did not sponsor this offering, but they should have.

Yeah, I wish I was hangin' with ya'll fools. You know I'd run point with the icebreaking.
